Titanic

Category Archives: Uncategorized

I stayed in the bridge contemplating on my life. I knew there wasn’t enough life boats yet I still ignored the warnings and went full speed ahead. This is my punishment to go down with the ship, this is where I will retire, as the captain of the ill fated Titanic.

I was awoken by a large crash sound at around 11:40pm. After reaching the bridge I heard we hit a iceberg. I then received the report of the accident from Murdoch and then made a quick inspection of the ship with Thomas Andrews. I was told 5 hulls were flooded meaning the ship will sink. I was in shock and only ordered the launch on the life boats when Lightoller had to approached me for the order.

I had a nice little chat about the temperature with Lightoller who was keeping watch. Then I told Lightoller to alert me immediately if there was any concerns and retired off to bed.

We are now entering the ice zone, an area where there is a danger of ice. I have received many warning about the conditions but this ships is unsinkable so we will proceed.

We are making good progress, I have started using the ship to its fullest extent. We may even arrive a day early! I can see my retirement from the sea soon. May we complete this voyage marvelously.

Life on the Titanic has been very luxurious. I reside in the captain’s quarters a fine room with all the necessities. I take meals at a small table in the dining saloon or in my room, attended by my personal valet, Arthur Paintin. On the odd occasion I do attend a dinner party like the one for George Widener and his family today.

After we departed at 12:00 the wash from the propeller caused the laid-up ship New York to break from her moorings and swing towards the Titanic. Quickly I was able to steer and avoid it and avert a premature end to Titanics’ imporatant the maiden voyage.

April 10 1912, I left wearing a bowler hat and a long overcoat taking a taxi from my home to Southampton docks. I came aboard the Titanic at 7 am to prepare for the important board of Trade muster at 8.00. Then I immediately went to my cabin to get the sailing report from Chief Officer Henry Wilde.

I have just been notified by the White Star Line that I will be the captain of the glorious and unsinkable ship, Titanic. I shall need to get preparations ready.
